Programme
7th March to 25th April 1999![]()
All meetings will be held at 165 Cold Overton Road, Oakham at 8.15pm until we tell you otherwise. Lifts will
be provided home afterwards, and can be arranged before - give us a ring, the number's on the back.
Please try to bring a Bible with you each week. In order to make Bible study easier, we are recommending that people
who are thinking of buying a bible go for the Youth Bible. This is a modern translation (the New Century version)
and also contains explanations and modern examples to help understand what is being taught.
Andy is on holiday on midwifery elective in Brazil for four weeks of this programme, so Mandy Hudson has offered
to cover as Challengers leader for these four weeks. Most of you know Mandy from the weekend away last summer.
She thinks she knows what she has let herself in for…
"My parents still treat me like a kid!" Ever said that, or thought it? What does the bible say about independence from your parents, and controlling your own life?
As Christians, we are called to be humble. But at the same time, wouldn't it be a good thing to have Christian leaders? How do you lead in a biblical way? What responsibilities do you have as a leader? How do biblical examples of leaders help us.?
"Who wants to be a millionaire?" shouts Chris Tarrant every week. Can you have a rich Christian? Should we be trying to measure ourselves by how much we earn? What should Christians attitude to money be?
Time to think about Easter and what it means to Christians…and to the whole world. A meditation with music and readings about Easter.
No meeting tonight - Andy's in Brazil, Martin's in Liverpool. Which would you choose? (And yes, Heather, they are playing at home - that's why I can't get a hotel room…)
So what did Andy get out of Brazil? (apart from a tan, a holiday, and 24 hours on planes?)
What is worship? Why does God want us to do it? How should we worship our Lord? And can you do it without a church organ?
Who do you know who is homosexual? Is it an unfortunate natural tendency to be encouraged/accepted? What is the bible's view on homosexuality and how we should regard homosexuals?
A regular series of meets on Saturday nights every fortnight. Social meeting for Oakham youth at Jules, the building just next door to Oakham Baptist Church. Starts around 7pm. Pool table available (if you can get Martyn off it!)
Thinking of going to Alton Towers for a trip - any takers? Names in to Martin please.
