Programme 30th April to 2nd July

Please try to bring a Bible with you each week. In order to make Bible study easier, we are recommending that people who are thinking of buying a bible go for the Youth Bible. This is a modern translation (the New Century version) and also contains modern explanations and examples to help understand what is being taught.

All meetings will be held at 165 Cold Overton Road, Oakham starting at 8.15pm unless we tell you otherwise.

As more Challengers pass their driving tests, it is becoming easier to give people lifts home afterwards. Challengers are helping each other - which is great. However, if any parent has a problem with this, please talk to us, and we may be able to arrange an alternative - we are aware that this is an area of concern to some people.

7th May - Video Evening

If all goes to plan, Andy and Martin will be in the middle of Lincolnshire by now - so Challengers meets at 5 Langham Place, Ashwell Road, Oakham (Mandy's house) for a video evening.

14th May - Film '00

…without Jonathan Woss, fortunately. Can we learn anything from films (apart from enjoying them?). A couple of film clips from recent films, and some discussion on what they can tell us.

21st May - Let RYP Seaton

Another place for Martin to get lost…Let Rutland Youth Praise at All Hallows Church, Seaton. Starts at 6pm - meet at 5.15 to leave at 5.30. Coffee back at Cold Overton Road afterwards.

28th May - HIV

Something that has almost fallen out of the news recently. Rather more than just an occasional disease of pop stars, though - there is still no cure for this. Just what should be a Christian attitude to this epidemic?

4th June - Creation/Evolution

One of the most discussed topics - is the Bible right, or are Darwin and the scientists right? How does the Bible's account of the creation fit into modern scientific thought? And what does it mean for us?

11th June - No meeting

…because you'll all be exhausted from Pentecost Praise (and we're on holiday).

18th June - Evangelism

How to share your faith with others in practice, and a couple of easy ways to explain exactly what you do believe. For anyone planing on attending the Message 2000 in Manchester, this session and the next would be really useful. We'll be practising on each other first, though…

25th June - Apologetics

Anyone knows what that means? Complicated Christian term for answering difficult questions, basically. Following on from the previous week's session, whenever you talk about your faith, you get questions (which is good - it means they are listening to you). Having some answers is usually a good thing…

2nd July - Leaving home

Some people can't wait to do it - some would prefer that it never happened. Some don't get much choice. Whether you are leaving for college or work, sooner or later you end up leaving home and setting up on your own. Can the bible really help you with something like this? A little course in independence according to Jesus.

2.30 at Oakham bandstand. Outdoor service for all denominations and ages, including praise and worship and drama.

28th to 30th July - Beach Weekend

Start your summer holidays off early at the Challengers Beach Weekend! Forget Ibiza, Majorca, and Tenerife - Wells-next-the-Sea is the place to be (?!). A bit of teaching, a lot of relaxing, and sun (hopefully), sea (definitely), and sand (probably everywhere by the end of the weekend).
