Challengers LogoProgramme 9th to 23rd July (including Beach Weekend 28th to 30th July 2000)

The program first…

9th July - Social

You get an evening off for once! Just a chance to chat, swim if you want to, tell us what you want to do next year, ask questions about the beach weekend or anything else, and generally veg out to some music. It's a tough life…

16th July - Mission Uganda

We are losing a regular member next year - Caz Rogers is spending a year in Uganda with YWAM (Youth with a Mission). Find what what she will be doing - at least as far as she knows at the moment…

23rd July - End-of-exams party

Finish off the year and say goodbye to the exams at the Challengers end-of-exams party - and if you weren't doing exams, its as good an excuse for a party as any…drinks and barbecue on offer, and bring swimming things if you want to use the pool. We'll hopefully be out in the garden if we get a warm day.

28th to 30th July - Beach weekend!

Where

Challengers Beach Weekend 2000 will be held at Pinewoods Holiday Park at Wells-next-the-Sea on the Norfolk coast, where we were two years ago.
We will arrive and pitch Friday night, and do a couple of activities then. There will be some teaching on the Saturday morning, led by Andy. There will also be a little project to do on your own during the course of the weekend.
However, there should be loads of free time - anyone who wants to bring a football, beach cricket set or anything else please do. We will try and sort out some volleyball if people want. The campsite has a boating lake where you can rent canoes and rowing boats, and also has a crazy golf course.

When

We will be leaving 165 Cold Overton Road at 5pm on Friday 28th July, and driving to Wells - this will take about 1½ hours. For those who are working, it may well be possible to arrange on car to travel out later - please let us know if this would be helpful.
We will be dropping people off at around 4.30 to 5.00 pm on Sunday 30th. This will be the last Challengers event of the year, so there will be no Challengers that night.

Cost

The cost of the weekend will be £25, to include everything - campsite fees, food, and travel. If you have a problem with this, please talk to Martin or Andy. Extra cans of coke, chocolate, and other essential visits to the camp site shop are not included, however!

Tents

Please let us know if you can bring a tent and the number of people it sleeps. That way, we can make sure that we have enough places between us.

Safety

Andy is a qualified nurse and will be responsible for first aid on the holiday. We will be taking a comprehensive first aid kit with us. Wells has a minor casualty department at its cottage hospital in the event of any emergencies.
Please fill in the parental consent/health form carefully, and get a parent to sign it if you are under 18. If you are taking any regular medication, do not forget to bring it with you (inhalers etc).

Particular things to bring:

· Sleeping bag
· Mattress or something to put the sleeping bag on
· Swimming costume
· Warm clothes for the evening
· Towel
· Bible
· Notebook and pen
· Torch
· Musical instrument if you wish - we will lock these away in the cars during the day. We will have a praise session, probably on the Saturday night or Sunday morning.
