Programme
10th September to 5th November 2000![]()
Please try to bring a Bible with you each week. In order to make Bible study easier, we are recommending that people who are thinking of buying a bible go for the Youth Bible. This is a modern translation (the New Century version) and also contains modern explanations and examples to help understand what is being taught.
All meetings will be held at 165 Cold Overton Road, Oakham starting at 8.15pm unless we tell you otherwise.
As more Challengers pass their driving tests, it is becoming easier to give people lifts home afterwards. Challengers are helping each other - which is great. However, if any parent has a problem with this, please talk to us, and we may be able to arrange an alternative - we are aware that this is an area of concern to some people.
Challengers are 3! Join our birthday party!
Some potentially riotous activities (so what's new?), including 'Lemmings live' (well that is!) - but also a serious look at four key answers to the question "Why does suffering exist?"
Another place for Martin to get lost…Let Rutland Youth Praise at Langham church. Starts at 6pm - meet at 5.15 to leave at 5.30. Drinks back at Cold Overton Road afterwards, swimming for those who want - and a bit of work on the service we're going to be doing at Uppingham next week.
It seems to have become a tradition to have an easy night after doing a service, just so we can recover from it…but we're not being quite that nice this time. While we still remember what we did in the morning, let's think about the next Challengers' service, and start getting some ideas together.
Totally Barmy Again? Totally Bewildered Already? (or make up your own…) We are still trying to sort out this week, as we are away on holiday. Watch this space or the news section on the website for more details).
We're on holiday, so Challengers are meeting at Hayley and Andy Christian's (15 Harrington Road, South Witham) for a video evening. We won't be here, so can you make your own arrangements for lifts! (Standing outside 165 Cold Overton Road is not going to get you far…)
We have another chance to tell people why we bother to meet and study the bible on a Sunday night! A chance to plan a brand new service for OBC next week.
Last time we did this it was Easter, and I was being nice to you. This time, its going to be harder (sound effect: evil laugh) - more bases, more to do, and less time. The theme is something the world seems to be fascinated with, Halloween; what is the origin of some of the myths and silly games that people do? And what is the Christian response to these? There are prizes waiting to be won! Come ready to spend the evening outside as well as inside, and at least part of each team is also likely to get wet at some point, so come prepared!
Another wonderful Christian word - what does it mean to you? We discuss different aspects of discipleship, and how they apply to different areas of your life.
Saturday evenings will never be the same again! NetReach@OBC is a new venue for teenagers - pool, air hockey and serious music plus more in the gameZone, drinks and eats in munchZone and full internet access in the cyberZone. http:/www.netreach.org.uk for more details.
Challenger s have been asked to go back to Uppingham Methodist to lead the morning service. Service starts 10.45. Apparently they have redecorated since we were last there - hope it was nothing to do with the volume levels…
Probably the biggest youth event ever seen in Rutland. We have Shine, we have the Archbishop of Canterbury, we have Uppingham Community College. Worship, workshops, teaching and praise. Limited tickets, to talk to Andy or Martin and BOOK EARLY!
The Challengers World (well, Rutland) tour continues - OBC want us to come back! Service starts 10.30am.
