Programme
5th November 2000 to 28th January 2001![]()
Please try to bring a Bible with you each week. In order to make Bible study easier, we are recommending that people who are thinking of buying a bible go for the Youth Bible. This is a modern translation (the New Century version) and also contains modern explanations and examples to help understand what is being taught.
All meetings will be held at 165 Cold Overton Road, Oakham starting at 8.15pm unless we tell you otherwise.
How can we find out God's will for us in the future? How can we be sure that what we are doing with our lives is what God wants us to do?
Last time we did this it was Easter, and I was being nice to you. This time, its going to be harder (sound effect: evil laugh) - more bases, more to do, and less time. The theme is something the world seems to be fascinated with, Halloween; what is the origin of some of the myths and silly games that people do? And what is the Christian response to these? There are prizes waiting to be won! Come ready to spend the evening outside as well as inside, so dress warm. At least part of each team is also likely to get very wet at some point, so come prepared!
I KNOW where Ashwell is, thank you - no-one needs to tell me this time…Let Rutland Youth Praise at Ashwell starts at 6pm. Cars leave 165 Cold Overton Road at 5.30pm - let us know if you need a lift. Then back to Cold Overton Road for a balloon debate - who would you be able to argue for?
Does God just accept everything that happens without comment? God is a loving God - but is that the only side to him? We look at what the bible tells us about the anger of God, and how that applies to us.
Who is this God person anyway? And what can we understand of him from the bible? How does the eternal nature of God affect us?
It is sometimes as important to make space to listen to God as it is to talk to him - this evening will be a chance to meditate and think about Christmas and what it means outside the hype.
They think its all over - then the Challengers Christmas party arrives! Food, games - and make sure you bring your random draw present for someone - no more than £2, though.
Another wonderful Christian word - what does it mean to you? We discuss different aspects of discipleship in a simulation game, and learn how they apply to different areas of your life.
Challengers are hosting Let RYP at OBC next week - and we seem to have a reputation to live up to after last time…this week is for planning what we are going to do and who is going to do it. Bring your ideas with you!
If we get it right, the Let RYP service should be a real opportunity to bring friends along, so feel free also to bring them back to the house for a social afterwards. Nothing heavy this week, but plenty of opportunities to chat should people want to. Nibbles provided.
NetReach@OBC is a Saturady night venue for teenagers - pool, air hockey and serious music plus more in the gameZone, drinks and eats in munchZone and full internet access in the cyberZone.
