Challengers LogoProgramme 11th February to 15th April 2001

Please try to bring a Bible with you each week. In order to make Bible study easier, we are recommending that people who are thinking of buying a bible go for the Youth Bible. This is a modern translation (the New Century version) and also contains modern explanations and examples to help understand what is being taught.
All meetings will be held at 165 Cold Overton Road, Oakham starting at 8.15pm unless we tell you otherwise.

11th February - Decisions

I couldn't decide what to do this evening, so I thought we'd do a session on decisions…should we plan everything? Or just wing it and decide things as they come up? And how do you make sure that you make good decisions?

18th February - Be my valentine!

"All you need is love…" according to the Beatles, and advertisers and TV program makers for most of the last thirty years. The bible talks about it a lot as well - the old testament has an entire book devoted to it. Is it really all we need? Does the bible allow you to enjoy it? What if you can't find anyone, or don't want to tie to one person at the moment? Does this make you abnormal?

25th February - Let RYP Stamford

This one I might actually be able to find - and I won't be there! Have a good RYP, but I am afraid we won't be around afterwards on this occasion. Tell us all about it next week!

4th March - Lent and fasting

Just why do people fast? Monks do it regularly. The bible mentions people doing it in a number of places. What do people do it for? What does it mean? Should we fast? Or at least give up something for Lent? And why should we do it?

11th March - Non-trivial pursuits

How much do we know about what we believe in? Can we explain it to other people? And could we answer questions about our beliefs if we were asked? This game of non-trivial pursuits helps us to look at what we do and don't know. Loser gets thrown in the pool. Only kidding, Sophie...

18th March - JukeBox Jury

And anyone who remembers that is older than I am…bring a song on CD or a clip from a film (DVD only, I am afraid - let us know if you can't get what you want on DVD, and we'll see if we have it or get it from the video shop) that illustrates a Christian theme, or something that reminds you of your belief. Be prepared to tell us why you have chosen it!

25th March - Let RYP Lyddington

Right, I am going to get there on time this time. We are not going to go view Corby, Kettering or anywhere else. Which probably means I'll end up following Andy…

1st April - Deep Fried Christian and chips

A chance for you to get answers to all the questions Andy and I have dodged not had time to give a full answer on over the last few months. Our experienced panel will be ready with their opinions and advice. Any questions in advance will give them more time to think - questions to Martin please.

8th April - Christ in Quiet

Just a chance to think about Easter, and what it means for us personally. And maybe wonder why this is different to the way some of our friends think about Easter.

15th April - No meeting

Happy Easter! You can have this one off. Just to give you plenty of time to work off the chocolate…
