Programme 9th September to 18th November 2001

Please try to bring a Bible with you each week. In order to make Bible study easier, we are recommending that people who are thinking of buying a bible go for the Youth Bible. This is a modern translation (the New Century version) and also contains modern explanations and examples to help understand what is being taught.
All meetings will be held at 165 Cold Overton Road, Oakham starting at 8.15pm unless we tell you otherwise.

9th September - Challengers 4th Birthday Party

Challengers has now been going four years. And some of you are old enough to remember the first one…

16th September - Worship

Christians are told in the bible to worship. What is worship? How should you do it? Does everyone worship the same way? Should they? How can we help each other to worship?

23rd September - Drugs

Here's a question for you - if cocaine was legal and free, would it be right for a Christian to take it? Discussion less about drugs themselves (you get that bit in school) but what the Christian attitude should be to drugs and drug takers.

30th September - Let RYP Whissendine

Time to get lost in Rutland again! Let RYP starts the new year at Whissendine, which is somewhere north of Oakham. OK, who knows where this one is…

7th October - Immigration or asylum?

Every night a massive security operation is mounted on the channel tunnel to prevent people illegally entering Britain. What is the difference between asylum and immigration? Should we allow more people into the country? What should the Christian reaction be to this?

14th October - Holiday

We are away, but if people would like to we may be able to organise access to the swimming pool - watch this space.

21st October - World Trade Game

It's back, by popular demand - and with some new rules, just to keep you on your toes. And it is a complete rumour that we are getting Caz back from Reading to be Uganda - so who wants to this time?

28th October - Let RYP Langham

Rutland Youth Praise service at Langham. Back to the house afterwards for a non-Halloween party. Swimming available for anyone who wants - it'll probably be the last chance to use the pool this year. There again, we could open it in the middle of December, just for Sophie and Sarah…

4th November - Christ in text

Can u xplain gspl in txt msg? Or say lrds pryr? :-) How do you reduce what you want to say to a text message, and how can that help us to explain the gospel to people? (and this is not a Christian justification for leaving your mobile on in school or the cinema…)

11th November - Denominations

How did the different Christian denominations come into being? What are the differences between them? And how should those differences affect our lives on Oakham today? Or in Belfast?

18th November - God through the cinema

Films can show a lot of fantasy, or sometimes show us a different world. We look at a couple of film clips and see what lessons there are in them for us as Christians.

Coming up:
19th September - Caz at OBC Prayer and Praise

Not specifically a Challengers event, or a youth event, but Caz Rogers from Challengers is speaking about her year in Uganda. Starts 7.30pm at Oakham Baptist Church.
