Program
13th September to 1st November
All meetings will be held at 34 Hilltop Drive, Oakham at 8.15pm unless we tell you otherwise. Lifts will be
provided home afterwards, and can be arranged before - give us a ring, the number’s on the back.
Please try to bring a Bible with you each week. In order to make Bible study easier, we are recommending
that people who are thinking of buying a bible go for the Youth Bible. This is a modern translation (the New Century
version) and also contains explanations and modern examples to help understand what is being taught. Many of the
group already have these and it helps with some problems working with several different translations.
You are invited to Challengers’ 1st birthday party. Starting at 8pm, food and drink provided. A great opportunity to bring friends or introduce people who may be interested in joining us in this year. Bring any music you’d like, and also photos of what you were up to over the summer – anyone got any Soul Survivor photos?
Not just alcohol and drugs – but people can get addicted to may things, from the caffeine addiction of high-pressure working to adrenaline addiction in the current rage for extreme sports. What does the bible say about addiction?
Don’t just sit there, do something! Why should we be active for God?
Why Jesus? Why not Buddha? Or Muhammed? Muslims worship Allah, the one true God, so what’s the difference? Is there one? Aren’t we all really talking about the same things?
We would like to deny all allegations that we are actually on holiday this week. We are really taking part in extensive training for the learning-to-drink-while-lounging-in-a-swimming-pool competition at the next Olympics. However, Challengers will be held at the normal time at 2 The Vale, Oakham (Matt’s house).
Preparation for the service at OBC next week
Just a collapse after taking the morning service, along with a discussion on how it went. Sausage and chips provided.
Why are people allowed to suffer? Whose fault is it? Why does God let it happen?
Challengers are taking the morning service at Oakham Baptist Church.
A concert in Oakham Baptist Church to give a positive alternative to Halloween. The band are ‘After Ours’ – a Christian band that play all sorts of music. A chance to hear the Christian message explained, along with lots of good music (Christian and otherwise!). Very much one to bring friends along to – it won’t be boring!
The next stop on the Challengers Tour – we are at Uppingham Baptist Church to take the morning service.
