Program
5th July to 26th July
All meetings will be held at 34 Hilltop Drive, Oakham at 8.15pm unless we tell you otherwise. Lifts will be
provided home afterwards, and can be arranged before - give us a ring, the number’s on the back.
Please try to bring a Bible with you each week; nothing else is needed, unless it is mentioned below. If you have any questions at any time, please call us or send us an email - details overleaf.
In order to make Bible study easier, we are recommending that people who are thinking of buying a bible go
for the Youth Bible. This is a modern translation (the New Century version) and also contains explanations and
modern examples to help understand what is being taught. Many of the group already have these and it helps with
some problems working with several different translations.
The final line-up for the year:
To finish off our study of the book of Colossians, what advice does Paul give us on how to handle our relationships with other people? And what have we learnt as a whole from reading and studying the entire book?
Not just alcohol and drugs – but people can get addicted to may things, from the caffeine addiction of high-pressure working to adrenaline addiction in the current rage for extreme sports. What does the bible say about addiction?
Churches, missionary groups, prayer chains – you can find them all on the internet. How are Christians using the internet to spread the message of Jesus? And how can we use email and the web to help both ourselves and to encourage others? All equipment provided.
A weekend away at Wells-next-the-sea, for sea, sand, and some teaching as well. Forms and details available from Martin if you don’t already have one – and we need the health forms signed and returned as soon as possible. Only £20 for the entire weekend, food and all.
You are invited to Challengers’ 1st birthday party. Starts at 8pm, food and drink provided. A great opportunity to bring friends or introduce people who may be interested in joining us in the Autumn. Our address may well have changed by then, so either keep an eye on the web site or look out for a change of address slip through your door – which will also give more details of the party itself. This will be the first Challengers of the new year, and they will continue weekly after this.
A concert in Oakham Baptist Church to give a positive alternative to Halloween. The band are ‘After Ours’ – people may remember from the EMABY weekend in Spalding in February. A chance to hear the Christian message explained, along with lots of good music (Christian and otherwise!). Very much one to bring friends along to – it won’t be boring!
